Mass Air Flow Sensors

GM used various sensors across its vehicle platforms. The 99+ Vortec trucks used a 5-wire sensor with a built in Air Temp Sensor. The LS1 Camaro/Trans am had a 3-wire sensor, with an external separate air temp sensor. Also note that the Vortec 5.3/6.0 engines from Express Vans had a much smaller mass airflow sensor.

In the above table, I have just used reference points to note the differences in the sensors at a set frequency. It is possible to use ANY mass airflow sensor on any engine, however the PCM needs programmed with the correct MAF calibration data.
